Greasepaint Youtheatre

Our family couldn’t wait to see a cousin’s performance in “Alice in Wonderland” at Scottsdale’s Stagebrush Theater. Since 1984, downtown Scottsdale has been host to the impressive performances of Greasepaint Youtheatre’s productions. It’s hard to fathom that we waited so long to discover this gem. A dual company venue, the youth portion of this theatre features kids from age 5 to 19, and is often their first experience in local theater. McCormick Stillman Railroad Park

Plan on at least two hours for your visit, as there is so much to see and do; visit Stillman Station to purchase tickets for rides, visit the historic General Store to buy snacks and souvenirs, stop at the Snackstop for hot dogs, hamburgers, and drinks, check out the Model Railroad Building, where both young and old will be fascinated by the work of local model railroad clubs, peruse the exhibits in the Scottsdale Railroad Museum at the Peoria Station, and explore the Roald Amundsen Pullman Car, which was used by presidents Hoover, FDR, Truman and Eisenhower! Air Force Arizona Wing Aviation Museum –Falcon Field

Commemorative Air Force Arizona Wing Aviation Museum –Falcon Field As grandparents we sometimes need to come up with a ‘Plan B’ activity. The Commemorative Air Force Aviation Museum at Falcon Field was my ‘back-up plan’ when our schedule changed. Cathy Droz and Cathy Burford Desert Botanical Gardens

Each spring and fall the Desert Botanical Garden ( DBG) plays host to some beautiful visitors. Butterlies, Mariposas, Papillions, by whatever name you choose, these elusive creatures are shipped in by the hundreds and are allowed to fly free in the Marshall Butterfly Pavillion.
