Years ago I was at an evening social function when a woman came in with her two young grandchildren. She sat at the table with her plate of food but seemed dazed. She fumbled around trying to cut her food and acted as though she could not see in front of her. I went over to assist and found out that she was diabetic and had not eaten all day! Walking is an activity that requires no special equipment. Hopefully, we can participate in the activity throughout our life. It is easily incorporated into other daily activities. It can be performed alone or with others. You can walk with your lover, your child, your parent or your pet. Night or day. Winter, spring, summer or fall. We can hold a conversation during the exercise, or listen to music. It uses both sides of the body in a balanced and rhythmic coordinated way. Walking can help control weight, improve circulation, increase aerobic fitness, as well as facilitating your mood and memory.

I recommend you take a walk. Diet pills, crash diets, lap band surgery are not the answer. Better diet, portion control and exercise are the keys to regaining or maintaining a healthy weight.
