It’s Time for the Revolution

Whether it is our State House or our Federal Government it is already obvious that the election is going to do nothing to make our lives easier. New leaders that made promises are already doing whatever they want to do with little regard for the average citizen in this country. They can’t agree on anything, and that is not a partisan statement. It makes no difference which side of the aisle you sit on. It is time that we take matters into our own hands now more than ever. We can no longer stand by and expect the politicians to lead. The only motivation they have is greed and power.

How do we get out from under their thumb of inaction? It has become clear that the vote doesn’t work.

It’s time for a revolution, an Entrepreneurial Revolution.

There is one thing that the politicians understand and that is the power of small business. It is about time that we small business owners, and those that are in need of jobs, start looking to what we have at our disposal and use that effect change.

Let’s not worry about the big picture. Let’s work on what we can do to be our own economic engine. If we can manage to stay in business, add an inexpensive item or service to our offerings or, for those that have never been in business and might be out of work, consider starting a business  — especially one that has little or no overhead or investment — we may just be able to improve our own lot!

Now is the time to dust off the old adages that we heard as kids and take to heart some of the messages they represent. “Necessity is the mother of invention”, “If it’s to be, it’s up to me”.

It doesn’t matter if what you cobble together is a craft item, baked goods, a neighborhood two-sided weekly newsletter with $25 dollar ads on it. There are any number of products that can be created or added to existing businesses at little or no cost that would help drive your personal economic engine.

If you could make as little $200 per month with some item or product you can put a little more food on the table, pay the water bill or part of the electric bill.

What is it that you do or can do that has value to others? Think what it was back in the day that your parents, grandparents or great grandparents did to survive economically. You might get some ideas.

Because we believe so strongly in the power of the individual and the entrepreneur to help start an economic upturn, we are doing a feature in The Boomer and The Babe Journal on the Entrepreneurial Revolution.
